Qigong

Preparing for Qigong

The term “Qigong” is composed of the two words “Qi”, or “Energy”, and “Gong”, or “Ability”. The term as such is relatively modern and it encompasses a wide variety of practices, so wide that any complete definition of it would be impossible.

During the practice sessions we will learn how to prepare our system (body mind spirit) to the “Qi” work, by going through the preliminary steps of tension releasing and the autohypnotic process of movement coordination. Here we will be already producing the health benefits of the Qigong and Taichi practice.

Zhan Zhuang

One of the preliminary practices that we will go through is the so called Zhan Zhuang (Standing Pole), or Dingshi (Standing Practice), an exercise that includes the concept of Movement in Stillness, were the body stands for a few minutes in a few given stances, while learning to release toward the floor the muscular tension, generating in time release, rooting, expanding.
